Structure: AskingQuestions • Use a questionwordvocab at thebeginning of thesentencetoask a question. • ¿Quién es la maestra? • They do notsayDO in questions; just use thecorrectform of theverb. • Questionword+ Verb + Subject (sometimes) • ¿Dóndevives (tú)? Where do youlive? • Toask a questionwithout a questionword, simply place theverbbeforethesubject: • ¿Eres atlético? = Are youathletic? • QuestionWords ¿Cómo?=How?/What? ¿De dónde?=Fromwhere? ¿Qué ?=What? ¿Quién / quiénes?=Who? ¿Cuál / cuáles? = Which? ¿Cuándo?=When? ¿Dónde?=Where? ¿Por qué?=Why? ¿Cuánto(s)?=Howmuch/many?
StructureNegatives • In Spanishthey use doublenegatives. Thesenegativewords are used in negative responses toquestions. • Nada = nothing • Nadie = no one / nobody • Ni, ni = neither, nor • No = no, not • Nunca = never • Ninguno (a) = None/ Nothing / any • In additiontosaying “no”, youmust use one of thewordstocontinuethenegativemeaningthroughtheverbphrase. • Examples: • ¿Eres atlético? = No, nosoyatlético. • ¿Te gusta baloncesto? = No, no me gusta nada.

Structure: Adverbs • Use theseadverbstoexpressfrequency of actions. • Adverbsdo notchangelikeadjectives do! Siempre = always nunca = never rara vez = rarely a veces = sometimes todos los días = everyday poco = a little Mucho = a lot / often de vez en cuando = once in a while
