Mass Effect Influence The core technology is called “Mass Effect”, which uses a water-based resin solution to flood or be sprayed onto any radiation- contaminated surface, including human skin (the skin must be intact) Within moments the solution de-ionizes and lifts any radioactive substance into suspension so that the surface can be wiped free of the contaminant (when large quantities of fluid are required, the effluent can be passed through a RadDecon resin bed for purification and reuse)

16. Decontamination of Skin Most Recent Test Decontamination of skin contaminated with Tc-99m pertechnetate Tl-201 thallous chloride Performed March 2008 Pee Dee Isotopes Inc, Myrtle Beach, S.C.

17. Pig Skin Test Materials and Methods: Fresh pigskin was cut into four 2” x 2” pieces. Two pieces were contaminated with Tc-99m and two with Tl-201 Contamination measurements were made initially and after each cleaning step using a Ludlum thin window pancake detector with a counts-per-minute (cpm) scale Transition Metal and Actinide solutions were sprayed in succession on a piece of skin contaminated with Tc-99m (A) and on a piece contaminated with Tl-201 (B)

18. Pig Skin Test For comparison, a leading decontamination agent was sprayed onto the two remaining pieces of skin {the one with Tc-99m (C) and the other with Tl-201 (D)}. (the manufacturer of the agent does not recommend use on skin) The solutions were then wiped off with new 4 x 4 gauze. Due to the amount of fatty oil on the skin, it was decided to do a final spray with 70% isopropyl alcohol, which was then wiped off with new gauze
