Use newspapers, magazines, and the Internet, books, and so forth. Each group should share its graphs with the class. Be sure to explain why one graph depicts data in a forthright manner and how the other graph misleads the viewer.

Choose a characteristic that is original to your group and of genuine interest to the class. For this characteristic, organize the data collected into a frequency distribution and a graph. Compute the mean, median, mode, and midrange. Discuss any difference among these values. Attempt to use measures of central tendency to discover something interesting about the class. Next, compute the standard deviation for the data set. Does it tell you anything new or interesting about the class that you did not discover in computing central tendency? Present your findings in a report to the class. Data should be collected today.
