  2. Facts • The Normans were Vikings. French flag • The Normans were from Normande in France. • They brought many changes to Ireland like crop rotation and hay. • They made motte and baileys( a fortress for fighters).

  3. The Bailey was a courtyard and in the Bailey there was a blacksmith, a horse stable, a garden, pigeon sheds, cattle sheds and houses for soldiers. The Bailey was protected by a tall wooden wall. The wall was again protected by a moat. A moat was a ditch filled with water. The poor had to work for the lord of the fort. They had to pay the lord taxes.They got money by selling food they grew.They could give crops or animals to pay the taxes. There was a well in the middle of the Bailey. This is a Motte and Bailey

  4. Kingdoms of Ireland. The Normans had very heavy armour.
