YCN MSCC Competency for Specialist Service Coordinators Specialist Service MSCC Coordinators Competency • Knowledge and understanding of which patient groups are at a higher risk of developing MSCC • Knowledge and Understanding of the signs and symptoms of MSCC • Understanding of the appropriate aspects of the MSCC pathway • Escalation to the local MSCC coordinator • Escalation to investigation • Referral process to Leeds • Specialist MSCC coordinators – assessment and referral for treatment • Knowledge and understanding of the MSCC treatment options and specialist service processes for delivering treatment • Knowledge and skill in assessing, triaging and referring patients for appropriate treatment Education E - Learning Level 1- Early Warning Level 2 – Diagnostic Level 3 – Specialist Intervention
YCN MSCC Pathway • Level 1: Early diagnosis and education • Level 2: Diagnosis, referral and support • Level 3: Specialist intervention
Level 3: Specialist Intervention • This role encompasses those in the Role of Local Senior Clinical Advisor or Network Senior Clinical Advisor • It requires a complete understanding of the whole pathway and its background • No single document is sufficient • A list of documents follows:

Level 3 Assessments • Each AOL will identify a Local Senior Clinical Advisor for MSCC. If non nominated it will default to the AOL • An annual update will be provided by the Network MSCC Lead to all LSCA. This may be part of a Network AOG meeting. • Acceptance of the role and participation with the update will recognise compliance
