Software Center Staff members should now have a new icon on their desktops – Software Center. If it’s not there they’ll need to restart their computer first.

Software Center Staff members should now have a new icon on their desktops – Software Center. If it’s not there they’ll need to restart their computer first. • Software Center can also be found by clicking the Start Button and typing “software center” in the search box and then clicking the associated link. • Or under Start button > All Programs > Microsoft System Center 2012 > Configuration Manager > Software Center • Double-clicking the icon will bring up the Software Center, showing a list of available applications & updates that can be installed. • Selecting an application/update and clicking the blue Install button will do the trick. Watch the install progress under Installation Status, • a restart may be required by an update or application.
User Notifications • Staff members will see popups in the lower right hand corner of their screens when software changes are required, new software is available or a restart is required. The popups go away after a few seconds. – • There is nothing the staff are ‘required’ to do, just be aware they’ll see this every once in a while as updates and software are applied. • If they’d like they can configure options by clicking on the icon, but it’s not required they do anything. • Once the updates/software reaches the deadline designated by the IT Department the software will be automatically installed.
Staff members can click on the icon and the View Required Software box to configure options. • Options window - • They can click the radio button next to Apply all required changes now or.. • Apply all required changes outside my business hours. • Links --- • View details - blue link or.. • View my configured business hours - blue link • Clicking on View details will open…Software Center
The Software Center shows all Available Software including any Updates that need installed. Staff members can Install the updates/software now or Schedule a time for their convenience. Clicking Schedule….next slide..
Staff members can choose to Install now or Install outside their business hours, they can also click the link for - Change software installation settings…next slide…..for Options
Setting up business hours – Under the Options tab and under Work Information it allows for staff members to select their work hours. Updates/software installs will not take place during this time period, unless otherwise specified by the IT Dept.
