  1. Project : Sensor Abstraction Layer Admin (SAL A) CP 5047 ICT Project 2 Project Members : Narain , Devi Nandigam , RajeshProject Supervisor: Prof. Ian Atkinson, James Mcgeachin, Nigel Bajema

  2. Addressing Client • SAL is designed by Prof. Gilles Gigan • Our client is James Cook University

  3. Sensor Abstraction Layer (SAL) • Interfacing tool for managing large networks of sensors. • Multiple, unique devices into one uniform system. • Command-line interface • Textual data only

  4. SAL Agent • What is SAL-A ? • SAL-A is based for performing many functions like controlling power system. • Shutdown • Restart • Hibernate SAL-A Application Server Client GUI

  5. Requirements Software requirements: Running SAL through Sun virtual machine Command Mark-up Language(CML) used by SAL to report on sensor hardware capabilities. Hardware requirements: Operating Sensors remotely through work stations Sensor network nodes and sensor gateways

  6. Requirements Achieved • General • Dependencies installed • Operating System Information • Support of Multiple Sensor Types • JPEG/V4L4J (web cams, etc.) • SAL interaction: • Display of SAL Information • List of sensors • List of commands for a sensor Commanding agent using RMI • Piloting Sensors: • Send commands to a sensor

  7. Problems/Obstacles • Team • Communication • User Impact Understanding • Time Management • Commitment • Technical • System familiarity • Testing difficulty • RMI/Application • Configuring virtual box • Configurations • Video/Image Display • Hibernating

  8. Demonstration

  9. Conclusions • Project Result • Nearly all requirements fulfilled • Project Management • More difficult than expected • Weak start and strong finish • Final Statement: • Minor setbacks but overall success!
