What is an A.C. Generator • It is a generator that makes an alternating current by a driven motor or motion. The current switches direction so that it is not a direct one way current.
What are the Components • AC generator consists of coils of conductors within the generator that receive avoltage from a source and produce a magnetic flux. And also; • Field • Armature • Prime mover • Rotor • Stator • Slip Rings
How does it Work? • AC motors the magnetic field is produced by an electromagnet powered by the same AC voltage as the motor coil. The coils which produce the magnetic field are sometimes referred to as the stator, while the coils and the solid core which rotates is called the armature. In an AC motor the magnetic field is varying, just as the current in the coil varies.
What is it used for and Why? • They can be used for many reasons like to power our homes and businesses. They are best used for this because of the alternating current so that the power doesn’t fade and is strong all the way around.
