  2. Brain Teaser! • Unscramble the word “new door” to make one word.

  3. Follow Along Reading • Please take out your book and turn to page 58 Ch2 section 5. • Follow along as the section is read.

  4. Complete the Graphic Organizer. Need for workers and The Slave Trade. Slave Culture. What happened to African Culture in the New World? • Please write down the factors that caused a strong need for labor in New Spain. • Summaries the Slave Trade and its affects on Africa.

  5. Working with a peer partner. • Create a poem with your peer partner. • (Each person must have it written down on a separate sheet of paper.) • Review p.58-61 Review/Read p.62-63 • Write a poem about the thoughts, feelings, and expectations of enslaved Africans sold to European slave traders and sent to the New World. • (For this poem you will use two line ryming scheme.) • Example:We worked hard in the fields by day till dark. • The raiding party stalked through the trees like sharks. • They pounced upon us like the Lion does the Antelope. • We were thrown into chains and striped of all hope. • How long does it have to be? At least 12 lines long.
