  2. The Challenge The competition is based upon the successful 'F1 in Schools' competition which has been running for a number of years. All involved so far have shown great ability, skill and have fully enjoyed the experience. The Competition will be open to N. Ireland Primary Schools. The top 2 teams will represent N.Ireland at the UK Finals

  6. Designing a Car Cover Profile with Plasticine…

  7. Designing a Car Decide on the profile of your car… Ensure Cartridge is covered by 3mm all around 3mm Profile sketched on or on card

Designing a Car As you cover the Profile with Plasticine… ensure that the height the of plasticine applied to the Jig is half the Width of the finished car, i.e between 45 and 60mm Plasticine & Wheels to be between 22.5 and 30mm Plasticine level to be no more then 30mm Plasticine at centre of car must be at least 22.5mm but no more than 30mm

  10. Designing a Car Simplistic 2D sketches including notes Approximately 4-5 A4 sheets or equivalent

  11. Try and add notes to explain your sketches.

  12. Manufacturing the Car Send Car to Manufacturing Centre (TEC Omagh) to be Scanned and Machined Digital Image of Car ½ car being Scanned with Laser Scanner

  13. Manufacturing the Car Send Car to Manufacturing Centre (TEC) to be Scanned and Machined Digital Information can be used to manufacture car on Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) Machine CNC Micro Router

  14. Balsa blank returned with axle holes drilled, ready for sanding and painting.

  15. Manufacturing the Car Fit Axles sleeve/bearings, cut axles to length and fit wheels.

  16. Racing the Cars… Experience the speed of you car being thrust down the 20m track in just over 1.2 sec…
