  2. Admin/Clerical Salaries • HRMS contains edits to restrict administrative and clerical salaries on federal and non-federal funds. • Exceptions may be approved by G&C during proposal submission or post-award.

  3. Admin. Salaries Exceptions Federal • Must meet exceptional circumstance criteria. • Document in proposal or Prior Approval Form. Non-federal • Must be project related. • Document in proposal or subsequent email to G&C.

  5. New - BUOB 3566 Sponsored Projects Events: • Defined as event and meal expenses incurred in order to meet the goals and objectives of sponsored projects. Examples: • Human subjects’ meals • Costs associated with project related conferences and symposiums.

  6. BUOB 3566, cont. • Must be charged to sponsored projects in accordance with agency guidelines. • A valid project reason is required. • Failure to document project purpose could result in amounts paid being reported as income to the individuals attending the event.

  7. Documentation – BUOB 3566 • Original receipt or invoice; must include detail, not just totals. • Date and place of the event. • Specific sponsored project purpose of the event or reason for expenditures. • Names, titles, and relationship of the people in attendance to the sponsored project.

  8. Documentation, cont. • Failure to submit proper documentation with each transaction will result in expenses being deemed unallowable. • Supporting documentation is required in order to comply with IRS regulations and/or the University's / sponsoring agency's reporting and monitoring needs.
