Pairup A collaborative project between Embedded Interaction Lab (EILab) and Nokia Research Center (NRC)
CONCEPT Shake hands to share information
ATTRIBUTES CONNECTIVITY INNOVATIVE ERGONOMIC INTUITIVE ACCESSORY
SCENARIO • User1-Save your personal information and linked in profile in your mobile phone manually. • Switch on the Bluetooth pairing service in the mobile phone. Wear the band and switch it on by pulling it. The flexible material with which it is made helps in this gesture. A strip of blue LEDs light up slowly to show that the band is on. 1 2
As soon as the 2 bands come within the range of 20cms, NFC gets activated and information is exchanged. The feedback for sending information is that the LEDs glow up (2secs) and for receiving information is the mobile phone vibrating. 3
User1 meets User3, with whom he doesn’t want to share information, Then he will pull the band to switch it off (LED lights up swiftly and stays on for 2secs and then goes off). Then during handshake, he will neither receive nor send information to user3. At the end of the day, User1 can browse through all the contacts he received during the conference and sort them out at will. Each message will include the users contact number and linked in profile connection request. 4 5
