King Carl XVI Gustafof Sweden and Queen Margrethe II of Denmark were present for the bridge and tunnel’s opening. Copenhagen lies on the eastern shore of Zealand Island. Part of the city is also located on nearby Amager Island. The city has an extensive walkway system for individuals to enjoy. The Copenhagen Jazz Festival is a popular music event. A number of international jazz musicians have attended the event. The city’s harbor is famous for a statue of The Little Mermaid. The statue is dedicated to a story written by Hans Christian Andersen.
