  2. 1 Where to obtain sources of information regarding a career in hairdressing The following links will take you to a selection of information on hairdressing Use the information obtained to create a summary or guide to choose your ideal career pathway in the Hairdressing field. • Where can I find more information?   3. 1 ACTIVITY: • Research the web links provided to find information regarding your chosen career • Create a checklist of web links that you have found useful and explain why (minimum 3 links) • Post your checklist to the discussion board under the title ‘Useful career web links’ • Don’t forget to print a copy for your portfolio

  7. 3 The roles and responsibilities within my workplace Example 1 • Josh works as a Trainee Apprentice in a top Chelsea based salon, his role is to assist the salon Stylists & Colour Specialists and to participate in training activities in the salon by booking in models weekly under the instructions of the Senior Stylist or Trainer. • Josh is responsible for keeping the salon floor tidy and he follows instructions from all team members while assisting with the clients.

  8. 3 The roles and responsibilities within my workplace Example 2 • Joanne is a Colour Technician who has recently qualified in Hairdressing - Level 3 • Joanne’s role is to provide colour services to clients; she takes over clientele from the Cutting & Styling department of the salon. • Joanne is responsible for maintaining a loyal clientele; it is important that the colour department has a full column of clients booked in for colour so Joanne is usually very busy

  12. 5 The training and development opportunities provided by the saloon The purpose and requirements of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) • Go to the HABIA website http://www.habia.org • click on Training (bottom left button) and then click on the Continuous Professional Development link. The CPD information will help you with the following activity

  13. 5 ACTIVITY 5 and 6 • Why do you think Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is important? • What are the requirements in your workplace in relation to CPD? For example: Do you have to visit Wella, Loreal, or other external training bodies? Or Do you have to keep up to date with new hairdressing developments? • Post your response to the discussion board under the title ‘CPD’ • Don’t forget to print a copy for your portfolio
