Modal Verbs 情态动词
情态动词 • 情态动词,顾名思义是用来表达感情和态度的动词。 • 表明说话人的立场和口气,以及说话想达到的目的 • 常用的情态动词有: can (could), may (might), must, have to, need, ought to, shall , should
can (could) • Some of us can use the computer now, but we couldn’t ten years ago. • Can/Could I borrow these books? • The story can not be true. 1)能,会:表示能力,相当于be able to (be able to 适用于任何时态)。 2)可以,表示许可,(may较正式,could较婉转) 3)可能,表示否定推测,can’t be 不可能
