russell davies: I’m put all my thoughts on this one here on the front page. I like that you’ve thought about, and investigated, more than just brand issues, you’ve looked at business, logistical, legal and governmental issues. That’s interesting and shows you know about more than ads. But I think you need to go further than just telling me this is a good time to launch an eco-friendly product. Presumably we know that. I’d have liked to see some thoughts on how to do it, who to talk to. And, while it was nice to see some images in here, they didn’t really help me understand the points you were making. They need to illustrate something. Now some toughts from our planning team…
There are no really ecofriendly cleaning and laundry goods produced at great scale in this country.
Locally, there are some tiny communities, producing this kind of products, but only for local consumption.
Mexican consummer is not aware of ecology and the urgence of taking measures. No effort have been made for any brand to educate the consumer about it.
As for a launching, it can be a great opportunity that could leave the huge competitors one step behind.
But if the intention is to compete in the big leagues of cleaning products (P&G, Henkel, Clorox, etc) then it is essential to have a deal with the titans of the distribution: Organización Sahuayo.
Besides, they can offer alternatives of distribution in the market.
Federal laws are still developing norms(SECOFI NOM01, NOM02 and NOM03, in collaboration with Chamber of Mexican Industry of Soaps, Detergent and Oils) but they’re still in process of approbation. Big companies are not fully aware or pressured by gov for the impact in the environment.
New government needs initiatives to validate its presence in power after july 2. Therefore this could be a good moment for launching a whole new line of cleaning products with a eco-concious to show mexican society that new government is interested in changing to old ways to do things.
