  1. War Organizations Government’s Role

  2. OGT TUTORING • After school from 3:30 – 4:30 the remainder of this week and next week • I’ll be here TOMORROW (yes, FRIDAY) – come and party it up OGT style!!!

  3. War Effort – FULL FORCE • Everyone involved in war effort • Men and Women (military service and factories) • Civilians (war bonds, victory gardens, factory work, rationing) • Children (collected scrap metal and rubber) • Gov’t (propaganda) – what else???

  4. Mobilization Of Scientists • FDR created the Office of Scientific Research and Development (OSRD) • The Manhattan Project became the code name for the research of the development of the atomic bomb!

  5. Economic Controls • Roosevelt created the Office of Price Administration (OPA). • OPA fought inflation by freezing prices • Also rationed food

  6. War Production Board • War Production Board (WPB) • decided which companies would convert from peace time to war time production • Rationed fuel and war materials (gas, oil, metals)

  7. Chapter 17, Section 2 and 3 • There will be a matching section for PEOPLE and BATTLES from Chapter 17, Section 2 and 3
