Mrs. Kenney’s Review January 28- February 1, 2013 Coming Attractions This week is Catholic School’s Week: • Adopt-a-Student: Each morning we will be collecting funds to help support Sister Carolyn’s Adopt a Student program; our hope is to raise money for our own SJA families in need. Students are encouraged to earn money by doing chores or jobs at home, and turn in donations to their homeroom teacher any morning during Catholic School’s Week. • Book Fair: The library will be open during OPEN HOUSE and during school on Monday and Tuesday until 10: 00 a.m. It will close on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Students and parents are encouraged to come by anytime. • Sunday, January 27: “Fill the Church” We begin Catholic Schools Week with Mass at 11:30. After Mass we have our Open House. Please make sure you visit your child’s classroom as well as the Book Fair, Science Fair, and Art Fair. • Monday: . Music mix up day- periodically throughout the day music will be played over the PA system. When the music is played, students are encouraged to get up and dance. • Tuesday: Light lunch of pizza provided by hot lunch- you may want to send additional food. Dessert (Ice Cream Sandwiches) provided by PSO. If your child is listed on the snack restriction list, please send an alternate treat. • Wednesday: Crazy sock and tie day (K-8) • Thursday: PERFORMING ARTS- American Eagle Productions will be here to perform Jesus Christ Superstar- One of my favorites!! • CHOICES COUNT PERFORMANCE K-5- 1:00 pm in the Gym. Kindergartenthrough 5th grade will perform songs under the direction of Mr. Watson. Parents are invited to attend. • Friday: ALL SCHOOL MASS (8:15) AND RED AND WHITE SPIRIT DAY • Red and white school appropriate clothing may be worn instead of the uniform. Please keep in mind that students will be attending Mass in the morning and that respectful attire is required. Jeans or slacks and sweatshirts or long sleeved shirts/blouses are allowed. Skirts and flannel pants are not permitted. • ALL SCHOOL SPIRIT RALLY will be held in the afternoon (12:30-1:45)

  2. Save the Dates Our Parish Lenten Mission will take place Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 11-13 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. It is entitled, Seek Forgiveness: Find God’s Mercy led by Fr. Fragomeni. On Tuesday there will be a Mardi Gras Potluck Celebration in the Gym at 6:00p.m. Please try to come! All SJA teachers will be attending the dinner and mission. Hope to see your there. • We will continue our study of the Ten Commandments. Religion • Weekly Reading Response Logs • The students will receive their new response logs on Monday. • Please be sure your child is reading a minimum of thirty minutes each night and is completing the log- a parent signature is required. Shine for Jesus! We fill buckets!!! • Word Study • No Spelling test this week • On Tuesday, the students will receive their new list and a parent letter outlining the changes I will be making to the word study program- parent signature is required . English We will continue on with Verbs. The students will not be having a quiz this week. I would like to thank everyone who donated Kleenex , wipes, and paper towels!
