  1. PROTOCOLS In data communication and networking the protocols play a very important role in transferring data between two ends. Protocols are the set of rules and regulations which are to be obeyed while transmission of data. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) established the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) reference model where each layer deals with a particular aspect of network communication. Here the network protocols are layered such that each one relies on the protocols that underlie it and is also called as a protocol stack as it consist of different protocols one above the other. The IIMT University, Meerut which is rated as Best private university in UP as its curriculum is designed to give a leading edge to its students to become successful in life. There are various types of protocols available like TCP (Transmission Control Protocol), IP (Internet Protocol), UDP (User Datagram Protocol), SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol), FTP (File Transfer Protocol), Telnet, HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol). Transmission control protocol divide the messages into manageable packets, send them to the internet protocol for delivery through different routes and them reassemble those packets at the destination. The internet protocol works with the routing of packets through different interconnected networks i.e. through optimized route to the final destination. Simple mail transfer protocol is used for transferring the e-mail from one source to the destination, it handle the contents and the attachment if any. File transfer protocol is used to transfer file from one system to another around the globe, without this protocol we are not able to transfer any type of file. Telnet is a protocol used to connect the remote system with the server/system for connectivity. Hyper text transfer protocol is a protocol used to transfer the hyper text from any location around the globe
