About the Campus Network National Student Initiative Alan Smith Roosevelt Institute Campus Network Director of Policy and Programming • “We are a student policy organization that engages new generations in a unique form of progressive activism that empowers young people as leaders and promotes their ideas for change.”-RooseveltCampusNetwork.org • Founded after the 2004 election to strengthen progressive movement. Today, it boasts 10,000 members and 120 chapters. • Division of the Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Institute Cornell Institute
About the Cornell Roosevelt Institute Chapter Fall 2012 Directors • Divided into seven policy centers: Economy, Healthcare, Domestic Affairs, Foreign Relations, Education, University Affairs, Environment • 100+ members • Holds Fireside Chats with professors & Moderates campus debates • Publishes seven policy journals and blogs for the website Cornell Institute
Purpose of the Program We understand that most college kids study abroad during their four-year career. As a club, we wanted to award the opportunity for students to still feel connected to the campus and extend our club’s reach beyond the campus Students abroad in this program will be able to publish articles onto the website. Position Outline Publish three blog posts on the pre-assigned deadlines At least one blog post MUST be about politics in your country Cannot write a policy proposal Send articles to Executive Vice President Matthew Clauson Cornell Institute

Beyond Cornell: Government By and For Millennial America • Institute-wide project aimed at increasing government efficacy. It discusses the government’s role as: Law maker, Steward of Common Good, Innovator, and how it Engages its Citizens. The project will ultimately be shown to the White House staff. Cornell Institute
