  2. Why Ecoliteracy? “ Literacy is ability to read. Numeracy is ability to count. Ecological literacy...is the ability to ask “What then?… (it) is the knowledge necessary to comprehend interrelatedness, and an attitude of care or stewardship, and the practical competence required to act on the basis of knowledge and feeling. ” David Orr, (1992)Ecological Literacy, Education and the Transition to a Postmodern World. RLG Objectives To expand the Runnymede Public School eco-literacy program (S) by creating a sustainable, collaborative (school library-parents) vegetable garden (M) on the south-east corner of the school property (A) by April 20th, 2010 (T). The Runnymede Public School Library Garden (RLG) will further promote the school silver eco status (R) and align it objectives with the 21st century vision for integrated environmental education in community and culture building and citizen engagement (M).
