3. ACT Exam All Juniors in the state of NC will be required to take the ACT exam for free on Tuesday, Feb. 28th. You will pre-code your answer sheets with Mrs. Measamer on Thursday in the cafeteria during 3rd block. Students absent will take the test on a later date in March.

Please ask a teacher or myself if you have a course question.

5. When will registration begin? Thursday, March 2nd. We will register students individually through 3rd period classes.

15. Chatham County Requires an additional 6 Electives Totaling 28 credits to get a high school diploma.

16. Occupational Course of Study Requirements • This pathway is ONLY for students who have an up-to-date Individualized Education Plan. • Specific courses & internship hours are required. • Meet with your EC teacher for more details.

17. Promotion Requirements • To be promoted to the 12th Grade, you must pass 20 Classes by the end of this year. Chatham County Schools does not do mid-semester promotions.

18. Early Graduation/Dismissal • Early Graduationis for rising seniors who have never failed a course. You will take four classes first semester & none 2nd semester. You will not get your high school diploma until June. You may still participate in the prom or any other senior activities. It is your responsibility to keep up w/ info. given to seniors. Early Dismissal is for students in good academic standing. You may leave after 3rd block 2nd semester only. • You must complete an Early Graduation/Dismissal form from Mrs. Kivett. • No students will be approved for Early Graduation or Early Dismissal until final grades are reported from your Junior year in June. Therefore, all students will register for 8 classes.

19. Honors & AP Classes • All students may register for any of the Honors or AP coursesin the course catalog. If you have never taken an honors course and are uncertain if you can handle it, please consult your teacherin this subject area. • AllHonors/AP English Courses requires a Summer Reading Packet. You may get them from an English teacher or on our the Counseling Office webpage on our school’s website under the Registration tab. The Reading Packet is to be turned in to your English teacher theFIRST DAY of school no matter which semester you have English.

32. National Technical Honor Society Student must have an unweighted avg. of 3.25 GPA and complete a second level CTE course. Students must also be a member in good standing in a CTSO. 33. NC High School to Community College Articulation Agreement The NC Dept. of Public Instruction and the NC Community College System have a statewide articulation agreement in which students may be eligible to receive college credit after completion of identified Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses in high school. This creates a systematic and seamless process in which students can move from high school to community college without having to duplicate efforts or repeat courses.

34. Criteria to Award Articulation Credit • Grade of B or higher in the course, and • A score of 93 or higher on the standardized CTE Post assessment In other words, if you meet the criteria listed above in selected high school classes, they can count toward your community college degree.

36. Career & Technical Student Organizations Provide leadership opportunities, communication skills, competitive events, character, citizenship, technical leadership, and teamwork skills. They enhance students civic awareness and provide opportunities for developing social competencies. They promote a wholesome attitude about living and working. Activities are directly related to the course blueprint objectives.

40. Career & College Promise Classes: Community College Online Classes that will Transfer to all UNC Universities and almost all Private Universities. Community College classes that are aligned with a CTE Pathway in order to give you Community College credit. Both classes will also give you high school credit.

CCCC Courses – College Transfer • Juniors or Seniors Only • These courses require an application to be completed by each registered student. • To meet eligibility requirements, you must have aweighted 3.0 gpa. • You must demonstrate college readiness. • You must maintain a 70 average or higher in your CCCC classes to continue taking CCCC classes.

43. CCCC College Transfer Classes • The College Transfer courses will be taught on-line in the computer lab. You will take up to two online courses during a class period. • These classes count as an honors class. Therefore, you will receive one extra grade point towards your high school GPA. • They will transfer to any college as long as you have a 70 or higher. • A complete listing can be found on the back side of page 1 of your Registration Sheet.

44. CTE Career Pathway Courses Some of the CTE Pathway courses are taught at other locations, however, most are taught online. Most of these classes will not give you an extra quality point towards your GPA. Course opportunities include: Accounting, Automotive, Business Admin., Criminal Justice, Dental Assisting, Early Childhood Educ., Health Info. Tech., Human Services Tech., Industrial Systems, Library & Info. Tech., Manicuring/Nail Tech., Medical Assisting, Medical Office Admin., Sustainable Ag., Sustainable Tech., & Vet Med Tech. *A complete list of CTE Pathway offerings can be found on the CCCC list in the Course Catalogue.

45. CCCC CTE Pathway Options • Requires a 3.0 weighted GPA or principal’s approval. • You must maintain a 70 average or higher in your CCCC classes to continue taking CCCC classes.

46. Timeline for Registration • Registration through 3rd period classes starts Thursday, March 2nd. • TURN IN REGISTRATION SHEETS TO YOUR 3rd BLOCK TEACHERS BEFORE March 1st with your signature & your parent’s signature completed. • We will hand out registration schedules beginning with seniors first this summer. You will be able to make changes when schedules are ready to be picked-up the first of August. Dates to be announced. • During Schedule Changes in August, you may request “wanna”changes. Once this week is over, you may no longer ask for these changes.
