What Is The Twelve Bar Blues? The twelve Bar blues is a unique genre, The most common musical form of blues is the 12-bar blues. The term "12-bar" refers to the number of measures, or musical bars, used to express the theme of a typical blues song. The blues emerged towards the end of the 19th century. This early style of blues was known as country blues and was usually a solo singer accompanied on guitar or piano sometimes with added harmonica or drums.
How blues music came across in the slave trade. Music played an important part of African slaves life's because it meant that they could express their thoughts and feelings through away that they loved to do. Music. It helped them get through the day. The blues song express what they are facing in life, for example happiness.
The Slave Trade (Middle Passage) Thousand's of African people were forced into slavery and were taken to the Americas, via the middle passage in the 18th and 19th century. The Middle Passage The middle passage was the route the ships sailed to either take the slaves to their assigned country or to take the things like cotton, tobacco and sugar from the Americas to Europe. But was also used to take manufactured goods rum and guns to Africa. Countries involved in the slave trade: Africa (The west side) The Americas ( Including the Caribbean) Europe And parts of south America Things they shipped to Africa were textiles, rum and other manufactured goods like guns and etc... The slaves were taken to America and then things like sugar, tobacco and cotton were taken to Europe.
Instruments Used The instruments that slaves used to create their music isn’t what we have now, they used instruments that they made themselves. This included the following: Drums Tambourines Shakers ( Tin cans filled with stone) Their own jaw bones Fiddle ( A curved bow) The most popular instrument used was the drums, and the drums came in many different sizes. You can play the drums with sticks, with your fingers and the palm of your hands.
Freedom For All Slaves The thirteenth amendment, abolishing slavery, was passed by the Senate in April 1864, and by the House of Representatives in January 1865. The amendment did not take effect until it was ratified by three fourths of the states, which occurred on December 6, 1865, when Georgia ratified it. On that date, all remaining slaves became officially free in the year 1865.
