  4. 2 Chronicles 20:1-2 After this, the Moabites and Ammonites with some of the Meunites came to make war on Jehoshaphat. Some men came and told Jehoshaphat, "A vast army is coming against you from Edom, from the other side of the Sea. It is already in Hazazon Tamar" (that is, En Gedi).

  5. 2 Chronicles 20:3-4 Alarmed, Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire of the Lord, and he proclaimed a fast for all Judah. The people of Judah came together to seek help from the Lord; indeed, they came from every town in Judah to seek him.

Waiting on the Lord All the men of Judah, with their wives and children and little ones, stood there before the Lord. 2 Chron. 20:13 Isaiah 40:31 Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles,They will run and not get tired,They will walk and not become weary. Matthew 7:7 "Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you.” Psalm 27:14 Wait for the Lord;be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. Psalm 147:11 The Lord favors those who fear Him, Those who wait for His lovingkindness. Psalm 37:7 Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who carries out wicked schemes. Psalm 130:5 I wait for the Lord, my soul does wait,And in His word do I hope.

God Does Not Always Answer Prayer! “We receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him.” 1 John 3:22 “But let him ask in faith without any doubting… For let not that man expect that he will receive anything from the Lord…” James 1:6-7 “You husbands likewise, live with your wives in an understanding way…so that your prayers may not be hindered.” 1 Peter 3:7

  15. Man’s Part: “Standing on Prayer Ground” or,“Appropriating God’s Victory”or, “Leave the Walls Behind”

  16. Appropriating God’s Victory… "This is what the Lord says to you: 'Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God's.’ ” 2 Chron. 20:15 ‘You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.’ ” 2 Chron. 20:17

  19. Appropriating God’s Victory Romans 5:10 “While we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son…” John 1:12 “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name.”

  20. 2 Chron. 20:20-21 Early in the morning they left for the Desert of Tekoa. As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, "Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the Lord your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful."

  21. 2 Chron. 20:20-21 After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: "Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever.”

  22. 2 Chron. 20:22-23 And when they began singing and praising, the Lord set ambushes against the sons of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; so they were routed. For the sons of Ammon and Moab rose up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir destroying them completely, and when they had finished with the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another.

  23. 2 Chron. 20:24 When Judah came to the lookout of the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude; and behold, they were corpses lying on the ground, and no one had escaped.

  24. The Result And as had happened before, when the surrounding kingdoms heard that the Lord himself had fought against the enemies of Israel, the fear of God fell upon them. 2 Chron. 20:29

  25. Ephesians 1:11-12 Also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will. To the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.

  26. Romans 11:33-34 Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable His judgments, and his paths are beyond tracing out! Who has known the mind of the Lord?Or who has been His counselor?
