  4. Salem • State capital. • Was founded in 1842. • Population – 155,469 (2009). • Nickname – The Cherry City • The movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was shot at the Oregon State Hospital in Salem.

  5. Portland • The most populous city. • Was founded in 1845. • Population – 582,130 (2009). • Known as The City of Roses. • The friendship city of Tallinn.
