  2. TR30.1 History • TR30.1 has collaborated with ITU-T to develop the worlds most popular voice band modem standards. • V.92, V.90, V.34, V.32, V.8, V.8 bis, V.44, V.42, V.250 etc • TR30.1 wrote TIA-825, the ‘Baudot’ standard TR30.1/03-02-010

  3. V.150.1 (1) • January 2000 ITU/TR30.1 began developing a standard for the reliable transport of modem signal across an IP Network. • Modem and IP experts collaborated to develop V.150.1 • Version 1 Completed December 2002 • Approved January 2003. TR30.1/03-02-010

  4. V.150.1 (2) • Defines • VBD a standardized pass through mechanism. • Modem Relay for robust transport with IP bandwidth savings. • Provides • A simple and reliable IP transport protocol (SPRT) • An in-band media state switching protocol • Trans-compression procedures for improved link layer reliability. • Call discrimination procedures for improved Call Success Rates TR30.1/03-02-010

  5. Legacy TTY/TDD over IP • Due to its subtleties TTY/TDD was not explicitly included in V.150.1 • ITU-T QH/16 (experts in this equipment) are to define the global requirements • ITU-T Q11/16 to develop a global standard TR30.1/03-02-010

  6. TIA-1001 • TR30.1 is to develop a TIA-825 over IP standard. • Simpler to implement than a full V.18 solution • Faster to market • Economic TR30.1/03-02-010

  7. Text-over-IP (Future) • TR30.1 as the recognized US advisory group to ITU-T SG16 is prepared to focus US input to QH/16 on Native Text Transport. TR30.1/03-02-010
