New 2 Story Library –Classroom building (Community`s Beacon of knowledge) Community Environment: Design connects the school to community through placements of new facilities & layered support activities: Public areas are first Layer - Gymnasium, Administration, Library, Learning Center & future Performing Arts Center Inner courtyard with amphitheater are second Layer The academic wings are third Layer – for more privacy and set away from street

  6. New 2 Story Library Interior Learning Environment: The new learning environment is flexible, adaptable & transformable to meet changing needs. Structural walls are at the perimeter so spaces can be rearranged for smaller to larger learning communities. All classrooms will have capability for computers, wireless networks and overhead LCD projectors.

New 2 Story Library –Classroom building Physical Environment: The goal – to create curb appeal to demonstrate t all stakeholders, including the community the results of their tax dollars at work. In addition, to also demonstrate how the reworked master plan will enhance life long learning within this modernized facility.

First attempt of Modernization for existing Facilities Planning Process A series of Site and Community Meetings were held to review the planning process for the modernization and expansion program of Montgomery High School. Meetings were held at the school. The purpose of the meetings was to review wish list, develop priorities and present plans, options and costs. The following is the Priority List: Health, Safety and Legal , Building Shell Integrity, Infrastructure and Utilities , Classroom/Interior Renovations, Outdoor Spaces , Renovation/New Construction for Educational Programs, Support Spaces for Educational Programs, Athletic Programs Support Facilities Master Plan In addition, the following comprehensive list of needs to be prioritized was developed by the Montgomery High School and after muchdiscussion and site committee meetings, based on the Priority List, it was determined that Phase I would consist of: 1. Modernizing and updating of the Stadium Field and Track to include all weather surfaces. 2Existing Building 1200, which consists of the Shops and Band to be completely modernized with the Band area provided with a building addition. Increasing the Band classroom to meet the Band requirements and District Standards. 3.A new 2-story building to be constructed to replace Building 500, including Art classroom and toilet facility, Building 700 classrooms and Learning Center. The new building to house standard classrooms, Art classroom, Library and toilet facility and support space. The new 2-story building to provide the school with a new enhanced image and front door. This is depicted on Exhibit A3 Site Plan. 4.The existing Library Building 102 is to provide for the new relocated Learning Center. This location to provide for ease of student access , close proximity to parking and Palm Avenue, limiting impact to existing school.
