  2. For your NAB: • REMEMBER! When it asks about the developing world they mean Africa etc!! • REMEMBER! You may get a question about a non-religious viewpoint or a secular viewpoint. This means Feminism!

  3. For your NAB: • THINK! Have you actually answered what the question is asking you? • ALWAYS! Attempt every question! You never know, you might manage a few marks! • MARKS! How many is it worth? This will give you an indication of what you should be writing. • QUESTION! What type of question is it? (AE or KU) What type of answer should you be giving?

  4. Stereotyping! • Men: breadwinners; strong; brave; masculine; do DIY; rational; like football; • Women: wives and mothers; caring; irrational; feminine; can cook and clean; sluts;

  5. Feminism! • Challenges traditions • Political, cultural, and economic movements seeking greater, equal, or, among a minority, superior rights and participation in society for women and girls. • E.G. Suffragettes • Germaine Greer: Feminist Writer: The Female Eunuch - women do not realise how much men hate them, and how much they are taught to hate themselves

  6. Media! • Stereotypes in the Media • E.G. Fairy Liquid Advert / Yorkie bar / Soaps • Women are mothers or whores • Men are strong, brave breadwinners • Page 3 / Pornography

  7. Religious Viewpoint! • Christianity! • OT: • Gen 1:24-31 – human beings are made • Gen 2:23 – Eve is made from Adam • Gen 3:16 – Woman will be subject to her husband • Gen 2-3 – Woman is to blame for ‘fall’ of humankind

Religious Viewpoint! • NT: • Jesus speaks alone with a Samaritan women (i.e. a social outcast) • He speaks to and touches a woman with a haemorrhage of blood (i.e. does not mention this being unclean) • He says that a man can commit adultery against his wife (i.e. the rabbis of the day only recognised adultery against the husband)
