Q1:How do fantasy authors hook and hold readers? It depends on the writer. Different writers have different ways to pull you in and get you lost in the their book(Austernet). But the one that works best (for me, at least) would be how they write their characters(Clare).
Q2: How do fantasy writers persuade their readers? If the characters are believable, the story is believable. You can rationally know something doesn't exist, but if the people seem real, the story is well written, and the scene specifically described, it feels real(Clare).
Q3: What is the relationship between fantasy fiction and truth? Obviously, the plot is not true, but in some, not all, the author tries to reveal truths about human nature in fantastical stories(Austernet). In City Of Glass, it examines different faces of human weakness and strength(Clare).
Q4: What truths are best communicated through the fantasy fiction genre? The personal beliefs the author has about good and evil, about people, and how they see the world(Alberta Libraries) (Scotia Glenville Catalog).
Q5: What is a common theme through most fantasy books? Battles are very common. Cliché it might be, but it ends up in two sides, usually 'good' and 'evil', and they battle it out (High Beam Research) (Alberta Libraries).
Q6: What are the most common plot points? 1. An average being's discovery of whatever the book's focus is on, 2. the prelude to, and 3.the battle (High Beam Research) (Clare).
Q7: Who are your favorite authors and why? Cassandra Clark, Holly Black, and Stephanie Meyer. They make you feel as if you're in the book, feeling what the character feels and they have the most important aspect, making the impossible feel real(Clare).
Q8: What are your absolute favorite books and why? The mortal instrument series, by Cassandra Clark. It makes you both laugh, cry, be horrified and change the way you look at things (Clare).
