What do they Eat? • There are over 5,000 different edible plants and foods in the rainforest. • We only consume about 200 different foods from the rainforest. • The native people of the rainforest use ¾ of the 5,000 foods, which is 3,750 different foods they have to choose from on a daily basis.
Housing • The Native people of the Rainforests live in houses made of logs, branches, grasses, bamboo, and many other materials which are found in the rainforest.
Natural Resources • Since the people of the Rainforests have almost no contact with other people in Brazil, they must use natural resources for everything. • Housing • Clothing • Cooking • Catching food • Hunting • Can you think of anything else they use natural resources for?
Work • Since money is not needed for living in the rainforest, the native tribes need to work for survival. • What do you suppose they have to do on a daily basis?
Culture The Kayapo have many celebrations and ceremonies. These ceremonies bring the community together and are done for almost everything: • Funerals • Weddings • Births • Adulthood • Hunting • Giving thanks to the things the rainforest gives them.
