I Don’t Like to Wait. Contemporary English Version – Psalms 130:1-8. From a sea of troubles I call out to you, LORD. Won't you please listen as I beg for mercy? If you kept record of our sins, no one could last long. But you forgive us, and so we will worship you.

I Don’t Like to Wait Contemporary English Version – Psalms 130:1-8 From a sea of troubles I call out to you, LORD. Won't you please listen as I beg for mercy? If you kept record of our sins, no one could last long. But you forgive us, and so we will worship you. With all my heart, I am waiting, LORD, for you! I trust your promises. I wait for you more eagerly than a soldier on guard duty waits for the dawn. Yes, I wait more eagerly than a soldier on guard duty waits for the dawn. Israel, trust the LORD! He is always merciful, and he has the power to save you. Israel, the LORD will save you from all of your sins. • Reasons to wait: • Waiting can be Divinely appointed • Waiting can lead to prayer • Waiting can teach us patience • Waiting can bring blessings • Waiting can be a great testimony “We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us”. http://www.brainyquote.com - Joseph Campbell 3/26/2011
The Price of Rebellion The New Living Translation – 1 Samuel 15:22-23 • Loss of peace with God 22-23 But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams. Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stub-bornness as bad as worshiping idols. So because you have rejected the command of the Lord, he has rejected you as king.” • Loss of harmony with Christ • Loss of direction w/the • Holy Spirit • Loss of opportunities to • Serve Conclusion: Rebellion defined… 1. open, organized, and armed resistance to one's government or ruler. 2. resistance to or defiance of any authority, control, or tradition. Introduction: What is the one thing you do not want your parent/guardian to take away from you? Please name just one thing! Illustration: An offender brought to jail and having his watch taken away, he put up a fight and got in deeper trouble. I don’t think there are too many people who like things taken away from them. Albeit at home, school, work or even at church. One of the first questions asked is, “Why”? Rebellion doesn’t pay!!! 10 x a day for 10 day Monday – Friday only Example: We have two small dogs, at times someone will take a toy/bone away from one dog to give to the other, and we cry, unfair play. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/rebellion 3/13/2011
Diligence to lead The Message – 1 Peter 5:1-7 • Desire to serve 1-3 I have a special concern for you church leaders. I know what it's like to be a leader, in Christ's sufferings as well as the coming glory. Here's my concern: that you care for God's flock with all the diligence of a shepherd. Not because you have to, but because you want to please God. Not calculating what you can get out of it, but acting spontaneously. Not bossily telling others what to do, but tenderly showing them the way. 4-5When God, who is the best shepherd of all, comes out in the open with his rule, he'll see that you've done it right and commend you lavishly. And you who are younger must follow your leaders. But all of you, leaders and followers alike, are to be down to earth with each other, for God has had it with the proud, But takes delight in just plain people. 6-7So be content with who you are, and don't put on airs. God's strong hand is on you; he'll promote you at the right time. Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you. • Driven to selflessness The Lord God gives the Oscar • Follow with a good attitude • Lead with the proper motive Conclusion: “…Well done thou good and faithful servant…” And then God will say, “And the Oscar goes to…” 2/27/2011
