  4. When Was it Invented • Original Turkish coffee pots (Ibrik) 500-600 AD • The story says that Arab traders noticed that their goats acted strange when they ate the coffee beans. The traders were disgusted when they tried the beans and threw them in the fire. They liked the aroma and then placed the cooked beans in hot water making the first cup of coffee. • The coffee pots left the grounds in coffee • The Mr.Biggins coffee pot was the first to filter out the grounds 1780’s

  5. What Need is Addressed • The Mr. Biggins coffee pot filtered out the grounds • Coffee is a good source of energy • The “Biggin pot” made better coffee and popularized it

  8. Originally Used Materials • Turkish coffee pots were simple copper pots • The first coffee makers were made of aluminum

  9. How was the Coffee Maker Originally made? • The original coffee maker was made of aluminum • Only made coffee • You could only make the coffee on the stove unlike today.

  10. How has it improved? • Improvements to the coffee maker were simple • A timer was added • More cups were able to be made in one pot • Automatic Keurig coffee makers brew almost instantly

  11. Why were these improvements made? • To make it easier & faster to brew coffee • to make coffee brewing more efficient • To have a better appearance • To make people want to buy it

  12. Who uses the coffee maker • Anyone who enjoys coffee • Homeowners who want to make coffee at home instead of buying it • Coffee ships use it to make their coffee

  13. Global impact in society? • Less paper being used for filters • More efficient so that we can make coffee easier at home • People find it easier to wake up and work

  14. How Would You Change it? • We would increase the brewing speed of modern day machines • We would make the machine automatically turn on and start brewing coffee for when you wake up
