History • During WWI Army Captain Robert L. Queissner created the Blue Star Banner in 1917, in honor of his two sons while serving.
The Blue Star Banner is white with a red border. Up to five stars can be included symbolizing how many family members are serving. If a member of the family is killed while working in the army, a gold star is put on top of the blue one creating a border. Looks
American Legion • The American Legion is an important part of the Blue Star Banner. • They give banners to many families across the nation.
Representation of Colors • The blue stars represent hope, pride, and bravery. • The gold star represents sacrifice, liberty, and freedom.
