Social Inclusion Programme • A • Clonmel based with a budget of €347,540 • 14 Target groups considered for assistance • Older people, travelers, community groups, migrants, long-term unemployed • B – Extension over all of South Tipperary • Eight Geographical areas • Awareness Programme • Group formation • Basic Action plan by December 2009
LEADER Programme • All non-agricultural enterprise activities undertaken by farm families, in particular, provision of tourism facilities. The type of facilities envisaged would renovation of farm buildings for tourism purposes, walking, cycling, angling, pony trekking, bird watching etc. • Development of niche tourism and educational services such as arts and crafts, specialty food provision, open farms etc. • Development of farm shops selling home/locally grown produce and manufactured products. • Selected investment in small rural enterprise space. • Support for the development of tourism facilities and amenities.
LEADER Continued… • The provision of a range of assistance types for adding value to local products, including support for business networks, collective marketing, local branding initiatives, and improved quality and development of artisan processing facilities. • Maintenance of vernacular features – in a way that protects the heritage of the features – such as disused railway lines, canal towpaths, bog roads etc. • Development of niche tourism such as crafts, specialty food provision, ecotourism, genealogy, archaeology etc. • Support for tourism marketing • Support for the provision of tourism accommodation.
LEADER Continued… • Amenity and leisure facilities • General community and recreational infrastructure • Environmental upgrading e.g. upgrading parks, civic areas, river walks etc. • Farmers markets. • Allotments • Actions to preserve and develop vernacular architecture, crafts, archaeology, cultural traditions etc. • Integrated plans for the restoration and development of locally significant natural areas, features and areas of environmental significance.
LEADER Continued • Development of training facilities in rural areas (fixed/mobile). • Developing the capacity of rural dwellers to utilise ICT including Internet and broadband to access e-services and other public/commercial electronic applications. • Development and utilization of the ICT base of the community • Countryside management projects – Pride of Place, Tidy Towns, Golden Mile, litter awareness, etc • Programme to restore the ‘kitchen vegetable garden’ concept • Increase the number of villages/towns entering the Tidy Towns competition and provide support for this
LEADER Continued • Printing of books on local history, traditions, etc • Training, education and information to create an understanding and awareness of alternative and renewable energy systems and how these could contribute to sustainable communities • Youth related projects
LEADER Continued • Grant amounts and percentages:- • Capital projects:- • Up to €150,000 (could be increased to €200,000 in exceptional cases with permission from the Department) • Grant rate: Up to 50% in most cases. And up to 75% for community related applications • Technical Assistance / Feasibility Studies • Up to €30,000 • Grant rate up to 75% in most cases and up to 90% for community related applications • Training Projects • Up to €150,000 • Grant Rate up to 100%
