Shipment Security Principles – How do thieves think? • Thieves will target a shipment / a route if the following factors existing: • The contents is Attractive • Shipments are Visible & they are Easily Identifiable • There is an Access to shipments • Low probability to get caught • High chances of Success Sécurité et Traçabilité des Marchandises | Morocco | January 24th 2008
Do Not Leave Shipments Unattended • Lock Doors • Secure Areas • Numbered Seals • Seal Containers (ULD's) • Adequate Packaging Sécurité et Traçabilité des Marchandises | Morocco | January 24th 2008
Should be done by courier known by shipper • Any deviation of that should be reported to shipper • Prescheduled for working days only • Try to avoid day before weekend and holiday to avoid having high value shipments on-hold during weekends and holidays • Pick-Up Sécurité et Traçabilité des Marchandises | Morocco | January 24th 2008
Loading at Shipper • All shipments to be accounted for • Total number of pieces matched with loading manifest • Not match – driver not allowed to leave premises before discrepancy has been solved • Shipments not 100% (damages, wrongly prepared etc) not to be accepted Sécurité et Traçabilité des Marchandises | Morocco | January 24th 2008

Departing from DHL Origin Site • Shipments to be accounted for when loading into truck for gateway/hub • Checked against loading manifest • Status check on all pieces (signs of pilferage etc) • Driver to be instructed to go straight to gateway/hub Sécurité et Traçabilité des Marchandises | Morocco | January 24th 2008
Departing from GTW/HUB • Shipments to be accounted for when loaded into aircraft/container • All pieces to be checked against loading manifest • Status check to be conducted before loading • Origin to ensure that pre-alert has been fully implemented Sécurité et Traçabilité des Marchandises | Morocco | January 24th 2008
Arriving Destination GTW/HUB • Immediately upon arriving shipments are to be accounted for • Shipments/pieces to be checked against loading manifest • Check status of shipments for discrepancies, signs of pilferage etc Sécurité et Traçabilité des Marchandises | Morocco | January 24th 2008
Miscellaneous • Dedicated staff to conduct shipment control and status check • All checks and controls to be done under supervision • Provide a list stating the staff present during the control and check of shipments • At each check-point there should be a shipment status control for signs of pilferage, damaged goods etc • Discrepancies, signs of pilferage, damaged goods etc should be documented either with digital pictures or video recording • All incidents to be escalated immediately to security with copy to origin (this includes discrepancies in shipment status, signs of pilferage, damaged goods etc) • All security related incidents to be reported into SID • Security investigation to be initiated Sécurité et Traçabilité des Marchandises | Morocco | January 24th 2008
