  1. How CIS Has Made a Difference in My Life By : Amanda Horne 7th grade

  2. How the CIS afterschool program helps me ? • The 21ST Century afterschool program helps with homework and projects . • The 21st Century is an after school program that is provided by the Communities In Schools of Cochran\Bleckley County • I attend 21st Century every afternoon to get help with math and social studies.

  3. The tutors • The tutors are very helpful. • They help you with all of your homework. • The tutors are there when you need them. They are nice and kind to all of the students. • The tutors help you with studying in any subject.

  4. Homework • During the time we do our homework the tutors are there to help you in any subject. • We get help in math, reading, social studies, and science. • When we are doing homework the tutors expect us to be quite, and to get finished with our work.

  5. Recreation • During recreation the children play all types of games outside. • We play kickball and other outside games. • We won a pumpkin decorating contest and got to have a shaved ice party!

  6. Family meetings • At 21st Century we have family meetings each month. • The family meetings allow time for my family spend more time together.

  7. How 21st century keeps me safe. • The 21st century program gives me a safe place to be after school . Somewhere that I can focus on learning without having to worry about bullying or violence because the 21st century program is a Zero –Tolerance zone.

  8. My Mentor The BCMS CIS Site Coordinator matched me with a mentor this year. Her name is Ana. I get to meet with her during the afterschool program. We both have German Shepherds, she has a sister my age, and we talk about my life. She is very kind.

  9. Thinking about the future • The after school program helps me think about my future job. I am able to ask questions about jobs and learn about different jobs on the internet like being a vet, lawyer or a doctor. But my main goal is to become a lawyer.

  10. Without the CIS afterschool program …

  11. I wouldn’t be able to accomplish my goal of improving my grades and succeeding in life !
