  3. DailySchedule Chorus is on Mondays from 12-12:30. Enriched Math is Tuesdays and Thursdays

  5. Fifth Grade Curriculum Reading & Writing: Journey’s Reading Program Math: EnVision Math Social Studies: Harcourt Horizons Science: STC and Foss Kits Daily Specials

Journeys – Reading/Writing Program • Research-based explicit, systematic instruction in the areas of Reading, Fluency, Writing, Listening, Speaking, and Language. • Aligns to the Common Core State Standards • Contains high-quality literature, informational texts, and instructional content. • Large whole-group and leveled small-group instruction. • Reading Logs • KidBiz • Differentiated online non-fiction reading program

ReadingLogs Expectation: 25 books per year (28+ books for an “E”) • 7 books for the 1st marking period • 6 books each for the 2nd - 4th marking periods • Log needs to be completed and signed each night • Logs checked at random Graded Assignments: Marking period genre assignments 2 required genres per MP (1st MP: mystery and realistic fiction) Book Activities for remaining novels: (must include 2 different genres from above) Read 15 pages or 15 minutes each night!

  8. KidBiz • Differentiated online reading comprehension program • Kid-friendly, interesting current event articles • Reading & writing activities to boost your child’s comprehension of non-fiction texts • 2 KidBiz assignments weekly beginning in October.

  13. Expectation: 10 minutes x Grade Level = Students should expect 50 minutes of homework per night. (Math practice, Reading & Log, additional assignments or online resources/ games) • Policies: Missed or Incomplete Assignments: Parents will be contacted via email when 3 or more assignments are missing in a subject per marking period. Homework included in report card grades.
