AIM Outputs • Printed Hardcopy Materials • PDF (“electronic paper”) • SCORM Compliant XML Files for browser-based viewing and use in electronic classrooms • Database export for use in other AIM systems
Maintenance/Surveillance of Current Curriculum • Manual Process • Checking Resources • Validating Objectives • Id Affected Test Items • LP/TG DP/RIA/Sheet Chgs • Results • Time Consuming • Error-prone
Maintenance/Surveillance of AIM Curriculum • Relational Database • Resources Linked to Tasks • Resources/Tasks Linked to Objectives • Resources/Tasks/Objectives Linked to Tests • Resources/Tasks/Objectives Linked to LP/TG • Automated • Minimize Human Error • Reduce Surveillance/Maintenance Time
Additional Traditional AIM Benefits • SCORM XML output for use with LMS • Browsable XML/HTML and PDF for use in the electronic classroom – tested with Elite and the Navy LMS • IETM interface capabilities for development, delivery, and surveillance • Centralized management capability via Citrix Metaframe-based Central Sites for each NETC Learning Center community, hosted at NETPDTC
Overview of AIM in the NETC Enterprise Training Management Framework (ETMF)
NETC Policy and Supporting Tools * Fully supports ILT objects and supports self-paced objects w/ other authoring tools.
MT Continuum Prototype Project • SSP re-engineering 30+ week training pipeline for TRIDENT SSBN Missile Techs (MTs) into blended just-enough/just-in-time ILE-conformant Instructor Led (ILT) and self-paced continuum of learning • New AIM CPM and LO Module toolsets core part of SSP’s baseline business process for this re-engineering • First major end-to-end design, development, and maintenance project that’s validating and extending CPM/LO Module business rules and data exchange mechanisms in accordance with NAVEDTRA 136/137 I/ITSEC 2010 MT Continuum White Paper I/ITSEC 2010 MT Continuum Presentation Narrated CPM-LO Module Blended Learning Video
AIM I-II Content Planning Module (CPM) Learning Object (LO) Module Interfaces with NETC Enterprise Training Management Framework (ETMF)
AIM Summary • History of AIM • Consistent success in past, updated over time, now extending to blended learning • Leveraging historical ROI and TOC reduction • One GOTS toolset supporting: • Traditional content development/maintenance • NAVEDTRA 130B/131B • Migration of traditional to new content standards • NAVEDTRA 136/137 • New development/support of blended learning • ILT & self-paced
AIM Summary(contd) Fills gaps in current Navy Training Environment: ILT toolset supporting emerging NAVEDTRA 136 standard JDTA links to learning content Future linkage between JDTA & Navy OCCSTDs Integrated JDTA-based design, development, and maintenance of both ILT and self-paced learning content Automated surveillance capability to drive down significant total ownership cost of learning content AIM toolset is filling those gaps as demonstrated by MT Continuum prototype project and NETC ETMF
