Previewing Websites • YOUR GROUP of seniors has been pre-selected and will be emailed to you at least one week prior to the exit interviews. • THE WEBSITE ADDRESSES will be sent to you in the same email at least one week prior. • EACH SENIOR has their own website that features all of their senior project assignments.

  4. Senior Learner Websites • THE PURPOSE OF THESE SITES is to: • Increase the rigor of the Senior Project within our performance-based learning system • Instruct learners in English Language Arts through the use of digital media • Showcase the graduating class to the community

  7. Senior Learner Websites • PREVIEW these sites as a way to: • Get to know the senior you will score • Familiarize yourself with their interests, activities and post-high school plans • Format questions to bring to the exit interview

  8. Exit Interview Basics • ARRIVE by 5 p.m. the day of the exit interview • CHECK-IN at the front of the C-wing building, directly across the quad. A learner will be there to check you in and direct you. (map is also located on website under PANELIST page) • BRING yourself! We expect the interviews to last from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m.

  9. Scoring the Exit Interview • EACH EXIT INTERVIEW will be scored on a rubric • THE RUBRIC assesses the presentation- both content and delivery • THE OVERALL SCORE is averaged from your various scores

  10. Using the Rubric • THE RUBRIC has 3 categories to score • EACH CATEGORY has a different focus • EACH CATEGORY receives a score of 1 to 4 • THE OVERALL SCORE represents an average

  11. Using the Rubric • THE 1st ROW covers the personal reflection of the presentation, including: • Reflections on senior year & senior project • Successes, challenges, and post high-school plans

  12. Scoring the 1st Row • A score of 4 means the senior elaborately discussed the below criteria in a sophisticated way with many moments of reflection and self-analysis • A score of 3 means the senior sufficiently discussed their senior project and post-high school plans in a reflective way with details • A score of 2 means the senior somewhat discussed the above criteria with limited details and reflection • A score of 1 means the senior barely discussed the above criteria

  13. Using the Rubric • THE 2nd ROW covers the academic content of the presentation, including: • Senior Project writing focus • Job Shadow • Visual Representation

  14. Scoring the 2nd Row • A score of 4 means the senior elaborately discussed the below criteria in a sophisticated way with many moments of reflection, clarity, and academic connection • A score of 3 means the senior sufficiently discussed their job shadow, senior writing, and visual representation with appropriate details • A score of 2 means the senior somewhat discussed the above criteria with limited details • A score of 1 means the senior barely discussed the above criteria

  15. Using the Rubric • THE 3rd ROW covers the speaking skills of the presentation, including: • Verbal & Nonverbal Communication • Answers to Panelists’ Questions

  16. Scoring the 3rd Row • A score of 4 means the senior had a comfortable, engaging presence with the panelists and elaborately answered all panelist questions with extensive details • A score of 3 means the senior maintained their presence with the panelists and sufficiently answered all panelist questions with relevant details • A score of 2 means the senior maintained limited presence with the panelists and provided limited answers all panelist questions • A score of 1 means the senior struggled with both presence and answers to panelist questions

  17. Using the Rubric • THE RUBRIC allows for you to jot down questions during the presentation • ALL SENIORS will be prepared to answer panelist questions at the end of their exit presentation

  18. Sound Simple? • IT IS! Here’s a quick outline of what this PowerPoint covered: • PREVIEW senior websites • ARRIVE by 5 p.m. at LHS the day of the interview • SCORE all presentations from a 1 to a 4 based on: • Reflection • Content of their Presentation • Speaking Skills

  19. FAQ • DO I HAVE TO PASS THEM? No. If you feel the learner has not met the level 3 on the rubric, you have no obligation to “pass” them. They will have an opportunity to redo their exit interview at a later date. • HOW DO I COME UP WITH A FINAL SCORE? You can score all 3 categories on the rubric and then average them. For example, if you score a learner’s rubric with a 3, 3.5 and a 2.5, you could give them an overall score of 3. We average all panelists’ final scores together to assign the student the final, overall score.
