  1. All about the Olympic and Paralympic torch relay!!

  2. Olympic torch!! • The Olympic Torch was made of Aluminum alloy skin, perforated by 8,000 circles representing the inspirational stories of the 8,000 Torchbearers who will carry the Olympic Flame, The circles also help ensure heat is quickly dissipated, without being conducted down the handle, and providing extra grip. The triangular-shaped torch represents: • The three Olympic values (respect, excellence and friendship) • The Olympic Motto (faster, higher, stronger) • Olympic games hosted by United Kingdom (1908, 1948 and 2012) • The vision of 2012 Summer Olympics (sport, education and culture) • The colour of the torch will be gold; this represents the qualities of the Olympic Flame – the brightness and the warmth of the light that it shines. The torch was designed by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby. It stands 800 millimetres (31 in) high, tested to withstand all weather conditions. The mass production of the Torches started at the end of 2011. Regardless of its popular reception in London, critics have labeled the torch as 'the golden cheese-grater.' • The Olympic torch relay will be carried over more than 1000 places. The Olympics torch was lit in Ancient Greece and passed around the UK on the 18 th of may 2012.

  3. Paralympic torch relay • The London 2012 Paralympic Torch Relay will take place from 24–29 August 2012, after the Closing Ceremony of the Olympic Games. So that means the Paralympic torch relay will last 5 days. • Tim rushby smith is one of the torch bearers for the Paralympic relay he is age 44 and lives in London here is a picture of him

  4. Paralympic and Olympic route. • The relay will consist of lighting separate flames in each of the UK's capitals, London, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Belfast. These flames will then be carried across the country before being united at Stoke Mandeville, the birthplace of the Paralympic Games. The uniting of the four flames will symbolise the creation of the Paralympic flame. This will then be carried to the Olympic Stadium and will illuminate the skies above Stratford, London, kick-starting the 2012 Paralympic Games.

  5. Distance!! • 110 miles is the estimated average distance travelled by the Olympic Flame each day • •The Olympic torch will pass through 470 UK Local Authorities • •It will take 2 months to travel from Lands End to the Olympic Stadium

  8. The differences!! The silver torch is the Paralympic torch and the gold torch is the Olympic torch. The difference between them is ones gold and the other is silver! The Paralympic torch and the Olympic torch are basically the same but they’re different colours and different people hold them around the UK. People who carry the torch are all called torchbearers. The Paralympic torch relay goes to less places than the Olympic torch relay because the Paralympic torch relay only goes to the capitals. They both start in London.

  9. The end!! By Marsailli Mackay, Katy Smith, Mark Welch and Kurt kiero.
