  1. DOE Grids • New subordinate CP/CPS v2.3 • New name DOEGrids.org • Old name DOESciencegrid.org • New root CP/CPS – v1.0 • Edit notes not updated • New DOEGrids PMA charter • Based on GGF doc • New root CA ESnet • New subordinate CA DOEGrids • Naming document

  2. North American Grid PMA Randy Butler NCSA Tony Genovese ESnet

  3. Grid Policy Management Authorities • European Data Grid WP6 • De facto authority for coordinating EU CAs • Loosely functions as EU PMA • NCSA Alliance • DOEGrids • NASA Information Power Grid • Grid Canada • SDSC NPACI • Others coming such as PSC

  4. EDG PMA • Represents cross section of European Grids • 16 countries • Czech Republic, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Spain, UK, Slovakia, Cyprus, Greece, Poland, USA • 19 organizations • CERN, NorduGrid, CESnet, CNRS, GermanGrid, Grid-Ireland, INFN, NIKHEF, LIP, Russian DataGRID, Spanish DataGrid, IISAS, UCY, FZK, AUTH, TCD, PSNC, IFCA, DOEGrids • 19 CAs • European Data Grid model • Trust list of CAs • Difficult to join – puts large burden on EDG members. • EDG not funded to handle non-EU members • DOEGrids is a peer member • Additional member requests are weakening the trust model.

  5. Why a North America Grid PMA? • Establish cross domain trust in NA • Establish membership and requirements • Policies and procedures • Represent North American Grid CAs to: • EDG PMA for cross domain trust • North American Universities • Federal Agencies

  6. North American Grid PMA Approach • Organize representatives from NA Grids • Meetings aligned with GGF • Leverage GGF CP, Trust, and PMA model documents • Document North American • Policy • Technical approach as required • Certificate profiles • Establish Trust List of NA CAs • Coordinate with international PMAs

  7. What can MAGIC do? • Vet the North American Grid PMA • NA Grid PMA will become the official body to coordinate Grid CAs in North America. • We will then produce the NA Grid PMA charter to manage the new organization. • This will allow us to represent our Grid CAs to EDG • EDG will only have to coordinate with one external group • What will MAGIC have to do? • Review and approve PMA charter

  8. Who will be members of NA Grid PMA • Initial members • NCSA Alliance • SDSC NPACI • DOEGrids • Grid Canada • NASA IPG • PSC • Identify other potential members
