How it all started • Jyllands-Posten-name of newspaper: • Won an award against discrimination in 2005 • On September 30th 2006 this same journal published 12 cartoons depicting the prophet Muhammad.
After Effects of Muslims • Death threats of cartoonists • Pakistani muslim cleric offered 1 million dollars to any one who killed one of the Danish Cartoonists • Bomb threats called in to the office daily • Muslims claimed apologies from everyone involved • All anger that is built up is taken out not only on the Danes but also U.S, and Italy • Out of control and frequent protests
After Effects by Danes • 17 danish newspapers re-published cartoons after two years
Kurt Westergaard • Original illustrator of most offensive cartoon • Wanted the cartoon to say some people exploited the prophet ( Muhammad) was pro-terrorism • Fears his life and lost track all his safe houses he had so many • Was attacked by Muslims in to home with axe and nife • “This is an honor for the Somali people. we are telling that we are glad that anyone who insults Islam should be attacked wherever they are.”(al-Shabaab spokesman Sheikh Ali Mohamud Rage) • He thought anger was the best medicin • His continual offenses made situation worse
