  4. WHAT IS ANODIZING? ANODIZING IS A PROCESS USED TO COAT THE SURFACE OF THE BASE WITH OXIDE OF ALUMINIUM. ANODIZING WORKS WITH SEVERAL BASE METALS BUT NOT AS BETTER AS WITH ALUMINIUM. ALUMINIUM IS THE BEST METAL USED FOR ANODIZING. ANODIZING BECAME POPULAR IN 20’S. SINCE THEN TILL TODAY ALUMINIUM ANODIZING HAS BECOME INTEGRAL PART IN MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY. ALUMINIUM OXIDE ARE RESISTANT TO ELECTRICITY AND HENCE THEY ARE WIDELY USED IN ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES. TODAY, ALUMINIUM ANODIZING IS USED FOR WEAR AND TEAR OF THE METAL, ELECTRICAL RESISTANT, FINISHING, DURABILITY ETC

  5. How anodizing is done? • Anodizing aluminium is considered as electrochemical process. Here, the metal anode is dipped in the tank filled with electrolytic solution. This solutions acid: the type of acid depends on the application. Once the aluminium is dipped an electric current is passed through the solution. The aluminium inside the solution works as anode and there is also cathode in the tank. • The electric current causes the aluminium to oxide. The anodizing process leaves the layer of oxide on the surface of the metal. This layers are thicker than that of naturally made layer.
