Importance of DNA replication • DNA replication is important for all living things for growth and development. DNA replication copies the DNA and duplicates it for new cells. This somewhat acts like a copy and paste. When the new cells are created they need genes from DNA to function correctly. DNA is made up of 2 strands, the leading strand which holds all of your information, continually repeats itself to duplicate genes and DNA. The leading strand also goes '5 to '3. While the lagging strand pieces together chunks of information. The lagging strands replication is more complicated than the leading strand. For DNA to replicate itself it requires 5 enzymes. Those enzymes are, Polymerase, Ligase, Primase, Helicase, and Topoisomerase. This is how DNA is replicated and why it is important for all organisms to grow and develop.
