  1. A Complete Review of Tensile Structure The tensile structure is only structured without compression or bending. Tensile Structures are generally used as roof because they can cover a vast distance very attractively and that too at little cost. Tensile Structure is mostly used in Stadiums (sports Facility), Exhibit Venues or at warehousing Structures In this article, I will try to tell you all about tensile structure, What are their advantages, what are the different type of shapes in tensile structures But before that let's move back in time see how tensile structures were born. A Russian Engineer name- Vladimir Shukhov first calculated stress and deformations of tensile structures, shells and membranes and used it for the exhibit pavilions for the Nizhny Novgorod Fair of 1896, covering the vast region of 27,000 square meters.

  2. In recent days, tensile fabric structure gained great fame and have been used for multipurpose. A few well know building made by these are as follow. • Munich Olympia Park, • The Millennium Dome London and • Ashford Designer the Outlet United Kingdom. Different Type of Tensile Structures 1.Linear Tensile Structure Linear tensile structures are the structure in which all the members of the structure are in linear force. Typical Example of these structures is cable-suspended bridges.

  3. Linear Tensile Structure is further divided into the following types 1. Suspension bridges 2. Draped cords 3. Cable-stayed beams or trusses 4. Straight tension cables 2. Three-dimensional Tensile Structures Collection of the elements that are primarily in tension, with compression is transferring into the yard or down in the ground. The most common use of these type of structure is as the roof in a sports arena or as the roof of any huge building Three-dimensional Tensile Structure is further divided into the following types • Wheel (utilised as a roof at a horizontal orientation)o • 3D cable trusses • Tensegrity structures 3. Surface-Stressed Tensile Structures Surface- stressed tensile structures are just like two other tensile structure, but there are some slight changes, in this structure, there is a bit of role reversal as in these structures surface membranes are bearing the tension. Tensile Fabric structure is the perfect example of surface- stressed tensile structure

  4. Structures are further classified into the following kinds. • Fabric structure • Prestressed membranes • Pneumatically stressed membranes • Gridshell Okay this wraps up the types of tensile structures now let's move towards the shape of the tensile structure There are four basic shapes used in the tensile industry, and they are as follow.

  5. 1 Conical Tension or canopy Structure 2 Hyper-Structure 3 Barrel Vault Structure 4 Membrane Structure Advantages of Tensile Structures 1. Weather Proof (shelter from Sun Rain etc.) 2. Translucency in general, possibilities to design light consequences 3. Lightweight & Durability 4. Highly flexible as they can be changed into any shape 5. Tensile Structure can be made in a rapid time 6. Massive spans 7. Eco-Friendly and Recyclable 8. Adaptability to exciting construction technologies (steel, glass, cement, rock ) 9. The simplicity of maintenance & Effortless repair or replacement

  6. Here are some more major key points why tensile structure will be the next big thing in the Architecture Industry. 1 Long Coverage Tensile Structure tends to cover vast areas with minimum support which helps anyone to utilize the covered space fully 2 Visually Attractive Tensile Structures are always very eye catchy and visually representative. They are very versatile. There is no rigidness concerning shape and size. It can change according to the need of the consumer 3 Weatherproof

  7. Tensile Structures are weatherproof, irrespective of being from fabric they are weatherproof when it comes to big rainy days or the stable sun tensile structures can protect us from both. Hence they are weatherproof 4 Versatile As said earlier tensile structures are convenient; it can be moulded or changed into any form as needed.
