US ‘Monitoring Situation’ After AI Flight To San Francisco Diverted To Russia The United States has said that it is continuing to closely monitor the situation after a San Francisco-bound Air India flight made an emergency landing in Russia. Principal Deputy Spokesperson at the State Department, Vedant Patel, said that they were aware of the US-bound flight that had to make an emergency landing in Russia on June 6. Flight AI173 from Delhi-San Francisco was diverted to Magadan in Russia due to an engine glitch, the airline said in a statement on June 6 evening. The flight with 216 passengers and 16 crew members landed safely. page 08
NASA Invites Public To Send ‘Message In A Bottle’ Aboard Europa Clipper NASA has launched a new campaign offering the public the opportunity to have their names stenciled onto a microchip, which will ride aboard NASA’s Europa Clipper spacecraft next year. The Europa Clipper spacecraft is scheduled for a journey to Jupiter and its moon, Europa, in October 2024. As part of the ‘Message in a Bottle’ campaign, names received before 11:59 p.m. EST, December 31, 2023, will be stenciled onto a microchip, along with the poem written by US Poet Laureate Ada Limon, titled “In Praise of Mystery: A Poem for Europa,” the space agency said in a statement. page 08
