  2. USAID SUPPORT TO MUNICIPALITIES • Two separate programs: LGSP – Local Governance Support Program ISLGS – Increasing Sustainable Local Government Services • 82 Municipalities and 12 activity areas

  3. USAID SUPPORT TO MUNICIPALITIES • 12 activity areas: • Needs assessment • Performance Improvement • Revenue Enhancement • HIV/AIDS • Anti Corruption • Capacity building for public private partnerships and infrastructure

  4. USAID SUPPORT TO MUNICIPALITIES • 12 activity areas: • Water Savings • Sanitation • Energy Efficiencies • Housing/Municipal Infrastructure Grant Integration • Municipal Infrastructure Procurement Reform • Municipal Financing

  5. USAID SUPPORT TO MUNICIPALITIES • Vision: • A coherent package of assistance is offered to and implemented in targeted municipalities to realize objectives identified in municipalities’ strategic plans • Focus on depth versus breadth • Search for balance • Timeframe: December 2008

USAID SUPPORT TO MUNICIPALITIES • Three Components of Vision: • Action Planning • Implementation • Monitoring and Evaluation • Targeted Pool of 32 Municipalities • Will complete programs already underway • Ideally identify replicable and scalable programs and roll out to 32 municipalities as needed

  7. USAID SUPPORT TO MUNICIPALITIES • Final Phase of Program • Fine-tuning clear benchmarks and results collaboratively with partners • Identifying gaps • Continual process of field-based monitoring and evaluation • Opportunities for input and reaction to vision
