We made it through June & July without any injuries so that is a HUGE positive. The guys worked hard, and everyone who participated took a big jump this summer! We continued having great success with our camps. We introduced the 1st ever Gordon Tech Basketball Association Camp where the kids learned the fundamentals of 5-on-5 basketball and being a great teammate. Now its time to get Fall conditioning underway! Rams are going to get after it! Boy’s Basketball Coach, Gordon Tech HS Coach Boyle’s camp reputation took a huge step forward after this summer! GT basketball continued with its week camps ,but we added shooting camp, Offensive skills camp, and the 1st ever GTBA (extensive 5-on-5 camp). Ramball elevated itself to an all-time high this year by adding a 2nd court for the camps favorite activity. If you don’t know what Ramball is you are missing out! We had over 70 kids a day attend camp each week. The camps varied from 2nd grad to 8th grade. Attendance was at an all-time high for our summer camps. Boy’s Basketball Coach, Gordon Tech HS • Tom Kleinschmidt • 1991 Graduate • GT Alumni • DePaul • HIGH SCHOOL • - 1990-91 McDonalds All-American his Senior year • Finished runner-up in the Illinois Mr. Basketball voting • 1st Team All-State his senior season • Led the Gordon Tech Rams to the 1990 Class AA state finals • 1st All-time in scoring with 1989 points (23.6 ppg) • 1st All-time in rebounding with 705 rebounds (8.3 rpg) Gordon Tech High School | 3633 N. Gordon Tech High School Basketball Newsletter August 2010 Ram’s “Drill of the Month” Tom Kleinschmidt Profile Cont. • COLLEGE • - While at DePaul TK was named former Great Midwest Conference Player of the Year • Tom was a 3-time 1st Team All-Great Midwest pick • Is on DePaul’s All-Time Lists for: • - 5th with 1837 points • - 4th with 632 career field • goals • - 5th with 1352 career • field goal attempts • - 8th with 120 career 3 pt • field goals • - 4th with 453 career Free • Throws • - 6th with 386 career • assists • PROFESSIONAL • - Tom played professionally for 11 seasons in Italy, Venezuela, and Japan • - Led the Japan Super League in scoring twice and near the top of the league’s assist leaders “5-Spot” This drill is great for improving footwork, mid-range spot shooting ,and fatigue shooting. 5-spot is most effective with three players & two balls. The first player will shoot while the other two players rebound and pass. Coaches can either designate a specific number of makes or time. After the determine goal the players rotate positions until all three players have shot in spot 1. After all three players have shot at the specific spot move to the next spot designated with an X.
