It is not in the best interest of the poor countries when labor standards are attached to trade agreements
Recent US-Peru Trade Promotion Agreement (PTPA) has been criticized for its lack of attention labor standards

Labor Standards: Recommendations:
Civil society must focus its attention on the core labor standards
Lobby to enforce labor standards independently of trade. Labor standards are national responsibilities. Work one-on-one with national governments
Lobby to spread support for the implementation of the ILO’s Special Action Program Against Forced Labor to non-participating countries, ensure it maintains local involvement-Brazil, South-East Asia, China, India, Pakistan, Nepal
Campaign for strong labor protection clauses and full adoption of the ILO core labor standards
Lobby to make UN’s Global Compact initiative a binding one
