TAX REFUND Australian Taxation OfficeNews Release:22 April 2007. • Due to a very significant increase in tax collection for the year 2006, The Australian Treasury Department and ATO. have been instructed to refund 70% of the tax surplus to Australian taxpayers before the end of financial year 2007. • Average refund will be from $3000 to $6500 for a married couple, and $1500 to $3250 for a single person. • Click on the red dot below to listen to the official proclamation and instructionsas to how to apply for this refund online.
